Fire Mountain

Mt. Rainier at sunset from Tipsoo Lake. This image was taken at the height of summer as the sun was beginning to set behind the mountain. The result was a stunning light show that gave the mountain a glow and appearance that it was on fire. One of my favorite images.

Mt. Hood in Evening Light

Taken at Mt. Hood along Trillium Lake - a single, long exposure that captures the serenity and beauty of not just the lake itself but the reflections cast by Mt. Hood and the surrounding forests in the water. As the sun was setting, the last light of the day hits the western-facing peak and lights up with hints of alpenglow.

Illumination

A high-contrast black and white photo taken of Whitehorse Mountain, at the edge of the North Cascades range. The image is aptly named for the single ray of mid-day light that penetrates a cloud to illuminate the entirety of the Whitehorse Glacier, one of the most visible and prominent features of the mountain itself.

winter is coming

This image was taken during a week-long trek from the Eastern United States to Seattle, Washington. Specifically, this image is from just outside of Missoula, Montana, near the Continental Divide. Although I was driving in the middle of summer, as we began to gain elevation the mountains around us started to appear with snow on them, the juxtaposition of going from 90+ degrees to 32 degrees in a matter of hours was truly astonishing!

Soundside

The Outer Banks in North Carolina offers some of the most fantastic beach and ocean views on the entire Eastern Seaboard. What most people don’t know though is that the Currituck Sound (which faces West) offers views of a unique landscape and ecosystem and also makes for some fantastic sunsets. This image of the sound remains one of my favorites for this region.

Summer Sunset in Virginia

A stunning sunset on your typical hot and muggy Virginia summer evening. The sky burst into colors over the Henry House, an iconic monument to a major Civil War battlefield. I’ve shot at this location well over a dozen times and this was, by far, the most incredible display of light I’d ever seen there.
